An American Working in New Zealand: Nov. 2003 to July 2004

The Wellington Half-Marathon

January 19th, 2004 Posted in Activities

On January 18th, I ran and finished my first race in New Zealand, which is very cool. The weather was perfect…overcast and warm with a light wind. About halfway through the race, I realized what I already knew, that I didn’t train enough for this race. As people started passing me, I thought to myself that my lungs were good and I felt no pain, just leg fatigue, therefore I could run faster. In my most mental race so far, I pushed myself, and was quite thrilled as I passed the finish line at 1:55:23! Now to deal with the after-pain.
